Cellular Origins and Cytiva have reached a major milestone: roboticising the Sefia Select™ system within the Constellation platform. Sefia Select is a trusted solution for T-cell isolation, designed to deliver reliable separation and preparation of patient cells.

Through close collaboration, our teams have extended what is possible — solving the complex challenges of physical handling, fluidic management and digital integration so that this essential stage of cell therapy manufacturing can be operated under robotic control.

By combining advanced robotics with proven bioprocess technologies, we are removing manual labour, reducing variability and introducing a continuous digital chain of custody. This delivers safer, more consistent and more scalable cell therapy manufacturing, supporting the journey to industrialised, commercial-ready production.

Why this matters

Technical demonstration

Roboticised operation of Sefia Select shows Constellation acting as a true factory-first platform. Transport Units are loaded and positioned with ease. Cassettes, pumps and filters are installed with reliable precision. Optical sensor lines are connected accurately, and sterile welding secures fluid paths — enabling downgraded cleanrooms and uninterrupted operation.

Automated kit tests are performed. Isolation protocols run under robotic control. Sealed T-cells are transported onwards by autonomous robots, ready for the next stage of the process journey.

This is industrial capability in action: scalable, consistent and designed for the volumes needed in commercial production.
